With this bold look, RelyOn Nutec were also looking to make a statement with their advertising. This involved taking on the high impact multi-storey car park ad space at Aberdeen International Airport. Located directly across from the main entrance, you can’t miss this advert when you land in Aberdeen and RelyOn Nutec wanted to ensure they were using this space to its full potential.
Working closely with RelyOn Nutec to ensure their new brand was being effectively captured and communicated, Mearns & Gill designed the artwork which would be displayed on the airport site. This included the concise language and striking imagery that was so important to their brand.
Stretching across a total area of 650 sqm, it was important that the advert did not become flooded with too much information and stayed true to the bold brand that RelyOn Nutec had worked hard to achieve.
Following on from the airport, RelyOn Nutec then approached Mearns & Gill regarding an upcoming exhibition that they required materials for. When presenting to potential customers in this way, it is vital that every brand touch point within the parameters of your stand is consistent and delivering the same underlying message.
We designed a curved display stand, pull up banner and brochure that could all be used for this purpose. We also ensured that we were providing designs that would be future-proof so that RelyOn Nutec could use these for future exhibitions, roadshows and events.
The work undertaken for RelyOn Nutec most recently involved compiling a storyboard for their animation focusing on Competency. They were keen to include a character named Pete (Com-PETE-ence) who would guide viewers through the content in a way that would be more engaging.
With no current character model in place under the brand guidelines, this meant that Mearns & Gill was tasked with creating the character of Pete from scratch. Incorporating the brand colours ensured that Pete fit in with all other company materials and several considerations were taken into account to make sure Pete could be used more than once.
With the character having to be able to show a wide range of emotions and activities throughout the animation, it was important that Pete was expressive and flexible. The simple design of Pete means that he is not only easier to animate, but can also be easily modified for future iterations.
Once Pete was complete, incorporating two tones of the brand’s yellow and floating facial features, Mearns & Gill then worked on the storyboard for the animation. The animation uses the brand colour and fonts and also follows a script already written by RelyOn Nutec. Providing this storyboard gets across the complete story of the animation, gives a visual guide for the animator and ensures all key messages are clearly communicated.
