The 2015 event proved to be the most challenging, yet most successful. With marketing and entertainment budgets being cut by many of the major operators and service companies, it was a challenge to sell sponsorship and tickets. However, by taking a different approach and contacting companies who were new to the market, or their main business stream was not Oil & Gas, we were able to meet, and surpass, our sponsorship target.
Refreshing the format, television personality and STEM ambassador Rachel Riley was a big hit as our host for the evening and leading UK magician Pete Firman provided top class entertainment.
Mearns & Gill were appointed as event managers, with a clear remit to reinvigorate the event, raise the profile of the SPE Aberdeen Section in the oil and gas industry, and to ensure that the event became profitable. The team has delivered spectacularly on all these objectives. SPE is delighted with the results, which quite simply couldn't have been achieved without the outstanding performance of the team.Ian Phillips, Chairman of OAA Organising Committee
Each year the OAAs recognise achievements in the industry, from new technologies to individuals making significant contributions to their companies and beyond. From finalists who have been in the industry for years to those just starting out, it is exciting to see the innovation and collaboration still taking place in the oil and gas sector and we look forward to seeing who will make the shortlist in the years to come.
