Mearns & Gill was asked to create a brand identity for the programme which would allow flexibility for the range of events taking place, while building up some brand recognition for the programme as a whole. Working closely with the University’s department of Film & Visual Culture and the George Washington Wilson Centre, View was chosen as the programme name to reflect both the visual nature of the subject matter and the two-way sharing of opinions between the University’s academics and the general public.
Mearns & Gill created dynamic visuals for View using vibrant colours and iconography to categorise each type of event. Pop-up banners and leaflets were created to raise awareness of the overall programme with a complementary style to be used in posters and across social media platforms to publicise specific events.
The launch of View coincided with the launch of a book about ground-breaking 19th-century Aberdonian photographer George Washington Wilson, by Queen-guitarist Dr Brian May and Professor Roger Taylor. As the programme develops, View events will showcase local talent in Aberdeen City and Shire, while also bringing internationally recognised artists, directors and researchers to Aberdeen.
