Following our successful work on three previous art trail brands, including the 2025 Book Bench Trail currently live across Aberdeen for Clan Cancer Support, we’re delighted to once again bring our creative flair to a trail designed to inspire, engage and raise funds for a vital cause.
Brought to life in partnership with Wild in Art, ‘Scotties in the City’ will see 50 giant, artist-designed Scottie dog sculptures placed across Glasgow and its suburbs for eight weeks. The trail aims to boost the city’s cultural and economic vibrancy while raising vital funds for Maggie’s cancer support centres across Scotland.
Our design team created a colourful, playful brand that captures both the spirit of Glasgow and the joyful personality of the iconic Scottie dog. The identity evokes fun, creativity and community – aligning perfectly with the trail’s ambition to bring people together and make a meaningful impact.
The trail was launched with a splash as Glasgow artist Douglas Roulston’s spectacular ‘Lochie’ sculpture – inspired by Loch Lomond – was unveiled. The call is now open for corporate sponsors and artists to get involved in shaping this exciting city-wide celebration.
Poppy Church, Mearns & Gill designer who created the ‘Scotties in the City’ brand identity, says, “I was so excited to get stuck into this exciting band project and knew I wanted to create an engaging visual identity that felt energetic, eye-catching, and fun - just like the trail. The vibrant colour palette gives the brand a strong presence, with the prominent use of orange providing a subtle connection to the Maggie’s brand. I also introduced the traffic cone on the Scottie dog’s head as a light-hearted nod to Glasgow’s Duke of Wellington statue that ties the brand to the city’s personality and sense of humour. I am proud of the outcome and hope the people of Glasgow love it too!”
Hayley Smith, Project Manager for ‘Scotties in the City’, says, “We’re delighted to partner with Mearns & Gill to create a fun and distinctive identity that truly reflects what Scotties in the City is all about – creativity, joy, community and hope. This trail will be something special, and we’re thrilled to now invite artists, schools and sponsors to be part of it.”
We’re incredibly proud to support Maggie’s with this campaign, and we can’t wait to see Glasgow transformed by the Scottie dog pack next summer.
