With the Trades Awards entering it’s 8th successful year, we felt it was time to update the event’s website to reflect its position as the largest awards ceremony for the construction industry in the North-East.
As we switched the Trades Awards to a live, online awards ceremony, we took the opportunity to introduce some new design elements including a paint roller effect, celebratory confetti and projected text – ensuring the branding was memorable whilst standing out from the crowd.
Over 400 people participated in the online event - with finalists and winners being joined on screen by their children, Grandparents and even their pets, making the night even more memorable.
These new graphical elements were a key part of the new website design. The brief was to create a mini site displaying the key event information in a visually engaging way for 2021, with the aim of progressing plans for a full site in 2022.
The core functionality for the site focused on:
- How to apply with a registration form and downloadable application forms
- General information about the awards, their ethos and value
- Sponsors recognition and how to become a sponsor
- Highlights from the 2020 event
Keeping it simple here was important, with clear call to actions allowing users to register for the event and download application forms.
The new website visually sign-posted the 3 key purposes behind the Trades Awards, being to ‘Celebrate Talented Individuals’, ‘Reward Top Team Efforts’ and ‘Share Company Achievements’, whilst giving practical examples of how these values can be delivered through participating in the event itself.
Sponsors are critical for the success of any awards ceremony. Therefore, it was essential to strongly recognise existing sponsors and have the ability to add in further sponsors through the website design.
